Yes. A student can register for DVD courses online. In order to register for a DVD course, students must choose the DVD PROGRAMS option on the home page. You’ll then find the course you wish to take and click “add to cart”.  Proceed through checkout to complete your order and registration for the course.  You can also call 800-526-8673 for assistance with your order.

Each DVD and On-Demand course gives a detailed description of the lecture content presented in that specific course as well as how many continuing education units that course is worth.  We have broken these courses into their general focus, i.e. Biblical Counseling, Life Coaching, Crisis and Trauma, etc. for easier searching.

We are very excited about our new self-paced On-Demand format.  Everything in these courses is presented to you online. Log in to your student portal to access the lectures, worktext, and quizzes when it is convenient for you.

Definitely! Light University DVD courses offer the ultimately flexibility, allowing you to design any schedule that is convenient for you. There is no official deadline in which you must follow with your course work. You can study when and where want and take as long as necessary to complete you course work.

The American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) offers some clinicians and counselors Continuing Education (CE) credit due to good standing with a limited number of professional organizations.

The AACC is approved by American Psychological Association (APA) to offer continuing education for psychologists and main­tains responsibility for this program and its content.

The AACC is a National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Approved Continuing Education Provider (ACEPTM), may award NBCC approved clock hours for presentations and/or programs that meet NBCC requirements and maintains responsibility for the content of these presentations and programs.

The American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), #1400, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), www.aswb. org, through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. ASWB Approval Period: (09/2016 to 09/2017). Licensed social workers should contact their individual regulatory boards to review current continuing education requirements for licensure renewal. Social workers attending this conference can receive up to 14.75 continuing education clock hours depending on specific sessions attended.

The AACC meets the qualifications for continuing education credit for MFTs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (#3552).

The AACC offers continuing education credit for play therapists through the Association of Play Therapy (APT Approved Provider #14-373), so long as the training element is specifically applicable to the practice of play therapy.

The current programs at Light University do not require students to have completed a college degree or matriculated to a post-secondary institution.

The IBCC offers a merit-based credentialing system that promotes biblical competence and integrity in counseling, life coaching and crisis responders as well as an organizational voice within the faith-based community. Yes. For most courses a discounted tuition is available for spouses and small groups. One student pays full tuition and receives the full course, including DVDs, course text and the access to the test, others wanting to take the same course may enroll at a substantial discount and will receive the course text and access to the tests. All must share the DVDs.

You are able to print your certificate of completion as well as the letter of continuing education as soon as you complete your course.

Yes, we have a 30-day return policy for courses and products.

All of our courses are completed in your home. We just have different formats.

The online format has specific start dates for the course (the first Monday of the month) and you do have deadlines in which the assignments need to be submitted by. You will be offered support and accountability through your adjunct instructor that will facilitate the course and your academic coach. The online courses are 5 weeks long each. There is no log in times so that we can remain convenient for you. You will just have due dates each week for assignments. You will have on average about 5-7 hours of assignments each week. Each week consists of 3 1-hour long video lectures, 3 discussion board posts, 2 reply posts, and a 10 question quiz which is made of true/false and multiple choice answers.
The DVD and On-Demand programs is totally self-paced and there are no deadlines in place. You watch your lectures on DVD or online, follow along with the workbook provided and complete your quizzes online when ready.

DVD courses earn a certificate of completion for each course completed they DO NOT count towards any of the online programs on the website. i.e. Advanced Certificate, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Master Diploma. Those programs can only be completed by using the 5-week online courses. Both formats do earn CE credits. These CE credits are used when applying for Board Certified Credentials. Official transcripts may be obtained by filling out a transcript request form, submitting it to the Records Office or your Light University Coach, and paying a $10 fee per transcript.
