Course Lessons

HWC 101: Health Wellness Assessment: Where to Start
Catherine Hart Weber, Ph.D.

This presentation offers practical tips for doing an initial assessment with clients, as well as
providing a framework for integrated wellness. Dr. Weber discusses definitions and tools, such
as the Wellness Wheel, to help complete in-depth assessments of your coaching client’s health
and medical history, including getting information on lifestyle, stress factors, and other issues
critical to creating a good health and wellness plan.

HWC 102: The Psychology of Weight Management
Linda Mintle, Ph.D.

Most people know what they should eat and what they should not eat in order to lose weight
and maintain good health. Education is only part of the battle. The psychological and spiritual
issues that surround an individual’s relationship with food are a large part of weight problems
and the ongoing, “battle of the bulge.” Dr. Mintle examines the emotional side of eating and
assists coaches in finding strategies to help their clients get unstuck and move toward healthy
change.

HWC 103: Maintaining Health and Wellness in a Stressful Digital World
Archibald Hart, Ph.D. and Sylvia Frejd, D. Min.

The digital age is shaping our lives and relationships in striking new ways. Most people are not
receiving help in how to manage their or their children’s use of digital technology or become
good stewards of their virtual lives. We are now experiencing an epidemic of digital addictions,
including gaming, gambling, pornography, and cybersex. This presentation offers practical help
to parents, counselors, educators, and pastors on how to manage the digital world responsibly.
