ASID 101: Kids at Risk I: Sexuality and Relationships

Sexual promiscuity, teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases are just a few of the serious issues facing today’s young people. This session describes statistics, current trends and the societal and familial impact of unchecked sexual behavior, as well as the physical, emotional and spiritual effect of sexual activity on today’s youth.

ASID 102: Kids at Risk II: Effective Parenting Strategies and Interventions
Meg Meeker, M.D.

The harsh realities facing today’s children and adolescent must be intentionally and strategically confronted by parents, counselors, ministry leaders and caregivers. This session offers medically and biblically oriented advice in the middle of ongoing cultural wars over morality, media-driven sexual expressions and traditional family values. To influence children, one must first influence parents.

ASID 103: God Attachment and Self-esteem
Joshua Straub, Ph.D.

This session investigates attachment in research and hypothesis in order to help participants gain a more accurate understanding of an adolescent’s attachment relationships. Stages of spiritual development are identified and steps are discussed that will help people develop healthy attachment patterns.

Continuing Education

The American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) offers some psychologists, therapists, counselors, social workers and play therapists Continuing Education (CE) credit due for good standing with certain states and a limited number of professional organizations.
